France vs Switzerland Euro 2020 Petition Repeated Discontinued

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Petition France vs Switzerland in the round of 16 Euro 2020 officially discontinued after reaching more than 270,000 signatures.

Previously a man named Pierre started a petition via the Les Lignes Bougent website. Pierre made a petition for the France vs Switzerland match in the last 16 of Euro 2020 to be repeated because he considered goalkeeper Yann Sommer to have committed a violation.

Pierre thought Sommer did not step on the goal line when he blocked Kylian Mbappe’s penalty, the only French penalty taker to miss.

“More than 270,000 people signed the petition ‘Replay the France vs Switzerland at Euro 2020’. Our server almost exploded. Many media reported, both from France and Switzerland,” wrote the party The lines move.

After getting various responses, both pros and cons, Pierre finally decided to end the France vs Switzerland petition. The petition was terminated after it got more than 270,000 signatures online.

The petition was also stopped after photos circulated of Sommer stepping on the goal line with one foot as Mbappe kicked the penalty.

“If you look closely, goalkeeper [Sommer] had one foot on the goal line, and many media published the photo. We’ve spoken with the petition author [Pierre] to find out what he wants against the petition, and he indicated he would prefer to stop the petition,” wrote Les Lignes Bougent.

“Let’s be wise people. Switzerland deserved to win and France had fought to the end. We will continue the voice of the people in solidarity,” continued Les Lignes Bougent.

Switzerland will next play against Spain in the quarter-finals of Euro 2020 tonight, Friday (2/7).
