France to Withdraw Troops from Niger by 2023 After Refusing to Cooperate with Rebels

France has refused to cooperate with the rebels in Niger and will withdraw its troops from the country by the end of 2023. This was stated by French President Emmanuel Macron.

“We will end military cooperation with the current Niger authorities because they no longer want to engage in the fight against terrorism. This will be organized in the coming weeks and marks the end of the collaboration. An orderly withdrawal of troops is needed in the coming weeks and months.” words Emmanuel Macron appeared on his page on the social network X.

Summer 2023 coup d’état occurred in Niger, as a result of which President Mohamed Bazoum was removed from office. Macron said France is ready support the ECOWAS invasion to Niger. After which the rebels demanded that French troops leave the country, reports RT.
