In its recent history, France has already launched several major investment plans aimed at reviving the industrial sector. After the financial crisis, then-President Nicolas Sarkozy launched an investment program of 35 billion euros, which was later supplemented three more times.
Despite those plans, the industry’s share of the French economy has continued to decline almost continuously. Macron emphasizes that his plan is different because it relies less on traditional industrial companies.
