France will ban smoking on beaches, parks and forests. That is the spearhead of the anti-tobacco plan that Health Minister Aurélien Rousseau presented on Tuesday.

According to the French government, 75,000 deaths can be prevented annually if smoking and tobacco sales are tackled.

“There have already been experiments with a smoking ban in many places. Think of some beaches, some parks and in the vicinity of schools. Now we are going to ensure that this really becomes the norm,” Rousseau said in conversation with the television channel. bfm.

Early next year, the French government wants to introduce legislation to extend the smoking ban to more places. The tax on a pack of cigarettes will also increase. In 2025, a parcel in France will cost 12 euros, the following year the price will increase by 1 euro.

In addition, the government wants to work on a ban on disposable e-cigarettes. That plan is expected to be put to a vote next month.
