France has registered almost ten thousand new infections with the corona virus in 24 hours. The number of confirmed infections in the country rose by 9,843 on Wednesday, the largest number since the COVID-19 outbreak in the country.
Since the beginning of September, the number of infections has increased by an average of 7,292 per day. Last month there were an average of about three thousand a day.
The increase in the number is partly due to the large number of tests that have been conducted. At the same time, the French health authorities are warning against the strict adherence to corona measures in the country.
Young adults in particular would not comply with the measures sufficiently. The vast majority of infections are also diagnosed in this age category.
Although the number of corona-related hospitalizations and admissions to intensive care remains relatively small compared to the peak in April, there is an upward trend. On Thursday, the number of hospital admissions rose for the twelfth day in a row.
Macron hopes that new measures are not too tough
The French cabinet will meet on Friday to discuss the many infections. French Prime Minister Jean Castex previously emphasized that the government is keeping all scenarios open to stop the virus, including a new lockdown.
French President Emmanuel Macron, on the other hand, said he hoped the new measures would be “not too restrictive”.
