Is France still experiencing a shortage of organs?
“The waiting list of recipients is still staggering. We have nearly 27,000 patients waiting for organs. In Lorraine, the Nancy nephrology department has currently registered more than 550 patients awaiting a kidney transplant. In 2021, we know from the Biomedicine Agency that there were 5,200 transplants in France. The delta between transplant recipients and waiting patients is enormous. There is a lot of work to do. »
