France plans to add another 200 million euros to its aid package for Ukraine, French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu said, “Kyiv Independent” reported. .

The additional aid will allow the Ukrainian army to continue purchasing French military equipment.

“You voted in the committee for an amendment that opens another 200 million euros for the fund to assist Ukraine,” Lecornu said in an address to the National Assembly.

“It will also give us an opportunity to focus on a new strategy to acquire new equipment for the Ukrainian army.”
The added funds will be part of the budget bill to be debated in the French parliament on November 8.

In July 2023, the French parliament agreed to increase its defense budget until 2030, partly in response to Russian aggression. The increased spending includes continued military support for Ukraine.

On November 6, the oldest French arms manufacturer Verney-Carron announced that it had reached an agreement to supply Kiev with weapons, including 10,000 assault rifles. The company said the deal “is contingent on securing the necessary financing, which may be provided by Ukrainian and French funds.”

The French defense minister told the National Assembly that the war in Ukraine is “a conflict from which we must not turn away”.
