The first complaint was made by a decorator working in 2021 on the set of the film Les Volets Verts. Her lawyer told BFMTV that “as she was walking down an aisle where Mr. Depardieu was sitting, he grabbed her, pinning her between his legs, and subdued her,” adding that she “felt completely powerless, unable to escape his trap ».
The second complaint was made by a production assistant on the set of Le magician et les Siamois (2014).
Gerard Depardieu has repeatedly denied what has been attributed to him. One of the actor’s lawyers, Christian Saint-Palais, told BFMTV today that his client had been released without charge.
Depardieu has been under the microscope of the French authorities since 2020, after actress Charlotte Arnaud complained that he was a rape victim in August 2018.
Actress Hélène Daras has also filed a lawsuit against him for sexual assault during filming in 2007. That lawsuit was dismissed by the Paris prosecutor’s office due to the statute of limitations.
In Spain, a lawsuit has been filed against Gerard Depardieu by journalist and author Ruth Bassa, who accuses him of raping her in 1995.
“I have never, never, ever abused a woman,” underlined 75-year-old Gerard Depardieu in an open letter published last October in Le Figaro newspaper, referring to Charlotte Arnaud’s accusations.
