The protests against the pension reform in France are becoming more and more serious. They continued today, amid delayed trains, queues of trucks, debris-strewn streets in Paris after yesterday’s mass demonstrations.
Over 1 million people took to the streets.
Britain’s King Charles III’s planned visit to France at the end of the week was postponed because of the protests.
More than 450 people were arrested during the clashes with law enforcement.
“Policemen and gendarmes were injured – more than 440. I have to thank the law enforcement officers and firefighters for their work during the protests. The demonstrations were many and in some places turned into clashes, in particular in Paris. There alone more than 900 were set on fire site, including garbage containers,” said French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanen.
In Bordeaux, they set fire to the municipal building, and a police station not far from Nantes.
Because of the situation, air traffic control requested the cancellation of a third of flights to Paris over the weekend and 20 percent for Monday.
