This Saturday, at the Château de la Buzine in Marseille, the 23rd edition of the European competition for the imitation of bird songs took place, organized by the National Association for the Defense of Traditional Thrush Hunting.

After 2 years without competition for health reasons, 3 nations (France, Spain and Italy) found themselves within the framework of the Château de la Buzine. A castle which owes its fame to Marcel Pagnol who evoked it in his childhood memories in “my mother’s castle” and what is more, was its most famous owner.
The French team had the heavy burden of defending their 2019 title and had been training tirelessly for 2 years. Each of the “chileurs” had to reproduce the sound of a species: the blackbird, the song thrush, the redwing and a bird of his choice. Eric Camoin, president of the national association for the defense of traditional thrush hunting (ANDCTG) explains that the goal is to achieve the perfection of the bird. 6 judges were needed to carefully listen and score the contestants.
And it is the reigning European champion, the Marseillais Christophe Manivet who won this 23rd European championship, against eight other French, Italian and Spanish competitors. Note that France also won this European team championship. The French team consisted of Alain Saragossa, Christophe Manivet, Sébastien Mugavero and Jean Paul De Filippi
