France has recorded 4,771 new Covid-19 contaminations in the past 24 hours, a new record figure since the start of deconfinement in May, according to the latest report communicated Thursday evening by the Directorate General of Health (DGS).
The DGS reports the identification of 35 new clusters compared to the previous day, noting that 18,638 people have tested positive for Covid-19 over the last seven days.
In addition, 4,748 people are currently hospitalized for a new coronavirus infection, including 149 new admissions in 24 hours, while 380 patients are admitted to intensive care, or 6 beds occupied more than the day before.
According to the DGS, the Île-de-France, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Hauts-de-France and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur regions account for 71% of patients in intensive care.
In total, 30,480 people have died from the coronavirus in France, i.e. 12 new deaths since Wednesday, including 19,969 in hospitals.
