France arrests suspects for Christmas terror plans

French police have arrested two terror suspects. The 23-year-olds would have planned to stab people and die as a martyr themselves during the Christmas season, report French media.

The two were arrested last Monday in Meaux en Pecq, two places near Paris. At their home, the police found IS propaganda and other jihadist literature. They would have wanted to strike in crowded places, such as shopping malls, universities or busy streets.

French Interior Minister Darmanin has confirmed the arrests on Twitter. He thanks the security services and says France remains vigilant because the terror threat is still great.
