The governments of France and the United Kingdom are ready to support Ukraine “as long as necessary” and maintain a high level of coordination to respond to the country’s needs in military, humanitarian and economic matters, sources from the French presidency said Tuesday. (09.08.2022).
In a telephone conversation, French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson also shared concern about the food crisis caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The leaders also reiterated their support for European efforts to allow Ukrainian exports to leave by land and river.
The telephone interview was also the occasion to discuss the strengthening of bilateral relations between France and the United Kingdom, whose conversations in recent years have been marked by diplomatic tension.
