The vice president of the National Assembly of Cuba, Ana María Mari Machado, will continue today in the French Senate the agenda of her parliamentary visit to Paris, framed in the promotion of bilateral ties in this area.
On the third and last day of her stay, the vice president of the Council of State and the delegation accompanying her will meet in the upper house with the president of the France-Caribbean Friendship Group of the Senate, Hélène Conway-Mouret.
The day before, Mari Machado spoke in the National Assembly with the president of its Foreign Affairs Commission, Jean-Louis Bourlanges, a meeting in which the Cuban ambassador Otto Vaillant also participated.
Before, the delegation was received at the Borbón Palace, headquarters of the lower house, by the France-Cuba Friendship Group, an entity with a tradition of solidarity with the island and rejection of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on it by the United States. for more than six decades.
The consequences of this policy, its extraterritorial reach and the support for the Antillean nation in the cause of denouncing Washington’s siege were among the topics addressed.
Likewise, the visitors shared details of the Cuban reality and the legislative schedule of the National Assembly, a program derived from the Constitution approved in 2019, validated in a popular referendum.
The president of the France-Cuba Friendship Group, the communist deputy André Chassaigne, welcomed his colleagues from the island, accompanied by parliamentarians from various political forces.
In addition to Mari Machado, the visiting delegation is made up of the president of the Health and Sports Commission of the National Assembly, Estela Cristina Luna, and the vice president of the Education, Culture, Science, Technology and Communication Commission, Miguel Enrique Charbonet.
