The Close-up Festival is an invitation to travel through the City, Architecture and Landscape with screenings of documentaries, fictions, short films and meetings with filmmakers, architects, critics and academics. First edition. 50 films. 8 places.
It is part of an exploratory, educational, fun and civic approach. Project of territory (Paris and Île-de-France) and openness to the world (international selection), Close-Up wishes to cross the eyes of filmmakers, city actors and the general public for better urban education, a greater architectural sensitivity and to question our own urban future.
How to raise public awareness of architectural and urban culture, how to raise questions about our urban future?
The Close-Up Festival has in store for you:
> special screenings with: – an opening night, on October 13, with a cinemix around the film “Etude sur Paris” (André Sauvage, 1928), a lyrical tour of Paris in the Roaring Twenties & a closing evening, on the 19th October, with the preview of the film “Les Olympiades” (Jacques Audiard), presented in competition at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival.
– a screening of the Dolce Vita (Federico Fellini) for a carte blanche by architect Rudy Ricciotti on October 14.
> a Panorama section with 13 films selected to discover
singular, inspired and diverse looks in which stories of resistance, memories, end of the world, urban utopia …
> an Architecture section with the screening of 6 films echoing the diversity of city forms and unique cinematographic writings,
> a Landscape section with 4 films which “open up prospects for change to respond to the climate crisis”. Aldo Bearzatto,
> a contemporary China section with 6 films,
> A focus on Michael Mann, great urban and Hollywood filmmaker
> 5 films for a section Views of Dakar,
> short films and programming for young audiences.
