UA 19-year-old soldier assaulted a mounted policeman on Monday in eastern France before being shot, said French justice, not ruling out a terrorist act.
The attack was carried out in the middle of the afternoon against a gendarmerie in Dieuze, a locality of 3,000 inhabitants, by the young soldier armed with a knife. It had been preceded by an appeal received by the gendarmerie warning of an act of this type, the author of which claimed to be from the Islamic State group, according to the prosecutor of the Republic of Metz, Christian Mercuri.
“We must relate the facts to a call received by the operational center of the gendarmerie shortly before in which an individual declared that he was a soldier, that there was going to be carnage in Dieuze and that he claimed to be ISIS, “said the magistrate. The Paris National Counter-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office must now say whether or not it is “seizing this case”, he continued.
