Let me tell you a modern “tale”
For some time in England, groups of people have been constantly blocking key intersections while sitting on the road. But no one is entirely sure what exactly these protesters want.
***
The Insulate Britain group of activists successfully annoyed the authorities and claimed that 124 of their members had been arrested a total of 629 times. But they don’t care. They burned the court ban (in front of the court in Holborn in London) and regularly stop traffic on one of the main highways on the Island.
***
Bojo’s government, of course, is not happy. Interior Minister Priti Patel is constantly trying to pass laws to put Insulate activists in jail, and Bo insists they are not legitimate protesters and will conveniently “isolate” them in prison.
***
But what exactly are the goals of the group? At first glance, the link between “isolation” and traffic is confusing, but their ultimate goal is actually quite simple. The group says the government is not keeping its climate promises. The government continues to insist that Britain will have “net zero” carbon emissions by 2050, but is not really doing anything to make that promise achievable. That’s why Insulate Britain has decided that the smartest move the government can take to help fight global warming is to “isolate” every home in England by 2030. They say such a program will save people money. fuel and that it will create jobs. It is also much more popular than telling people that it is better not to fly for the holidays and turn off the lights.
***
The plan is to block roads until the government agrees to such a program (or rather, until they end up in prison).
***
“Insulate Britain” is a “child” of “Extinction Rebellion” – a group formed in 2018. But they believe that the ER is not a radical enough organization and constantly want meetings and actions. Blocking roads, according to IB, is the fastest and most effective way to grab public attention. (By the way, they also found some special superglue that sticks to the asphalt, and the cops literally can’t peel you off and arrest you.) And that obviously works, given the media attention. Activists are aware that their scandals with drivers (with real fights) are part of this spectacle, but many of the protesters are adults and there is a certain risk of injuries in the clashes. And drivers (especially those with supplies) are furious with the media for pouring oxygen into traffic, causing more and more traffic jams.
***
The organization has no clear leaders and makes most decisions as a team. But one of the most influential figures among them is Roger Hallam, who was expelled from the ER for his methods. Halam himself deliberately chooses extremely extreme tactics and even says that he will sit in front of an ambulance, even if it means that someone may die. He is accused of hypocrisy because his own farm in Wales is not isolated, but the group successfully reverses the argument, saying that this is the goal – because most homes in England do not have.
***.
The group is well organized. They have about 60-70 members and work in small “combat formations”. They have social media groups with speakers and followers on social media. They plan where to block late the night before and share the information with a few journalists.
***
IBs are annoyed by all attempts to understand how they work and argue that the focus should not be on them, but on climate science. And maybe they’re right, because scientists have long argued that we don’t have much time to act. From the pre-industrial era until today, the Earth is 1.1 Celsius warmer due to human activities. In twenty years there will be a 1.5 Celsius increase and this will lead to huge problems all over the world.
***
The group also cleverly uses purely “English” numbers for its cause. Although there are not very precise amounts, it is estimated that insulating all homes in England will cost around 360 to 600 million British pounds. Other groups present much cheaper plans. Because there really is a problem with isolation in England – according to a study alone, more than 8,500 people died last year, mind you. The New Economy Foundation has proposed that the government spend £ 11.7 billion over the next three years to isolate 19 million households.
***
Why am I even telling this? Very simple – do not stop protesting, especially in our country. Our police literally do not beat, compared to the British, let alone the Russian or American. See how they are kicked mercilessly when they are “stuck” on an important boulevard (for example, Gediminas Avenue in Vilnius, they also have followers in Lithuania).
***
Ergo, and for political reasons, love our police, and I will give you another example – the Latvian. There is an inhuman problem with those coming from Belarus, ie. the police in Riga “shake” them in a way you can’t even imagine.
***
Which doesn’t mean we have to put up with the disgusting thing behind the columns – no, I’m just saying you don’t know how cops fight, mercilessly, from the United States to Vilnius. However, our ineps first beat, with sadistic-erotic pleasure, and then ask if at all.
***
Here is a “human story”: I have an acquaintance from Lithuania, a great man, we know each other through the editions of “Maxim”. And he says: “Belarusians” are coming, and we don’t want them, we understand the problem, but we have nowhere to accommodate them, and we actually hate them, and this with Lukashenko is very similar to “communism again”.
***
Think. Think about jabs for jobs, we need to introduce it urgently.
***
This raises the question of the long-term consequences of non-vaccination, but not Parmenides, the first to believe that the soul is immortal, centuries before Christianity. If this and similar viruses continue, what?
***
What are these consequences? A bit like Huxley – only the vaccinated are the future. They look like the “future”. Maybe Yuval Noah Harari is right – we will have to if we do not want to enter a new “medieval” world.
***
Why? Because the unvaccinated do not realize that after the plague there will be another Renaissance, as it once was after the 14th century.
***
I say this: liberalism is a great concept, which, alas, does not take into account the fact that freedom is valued as a supreme good only when it does not exist.
***
No one is currently considering what long-term sociocultural horrors could result from non-vaccination if this virus continues to kill people, especially the elderly. What freedoms will be lost, how the world will change. I’m not talking about the stick method, I’m talking about the “carrot” method.
***
The digital revolution has led to what we can call whataboutery – there is such a thing, it was even included in the Oxford Dictionary (from “what about…”). In general, it means that anyone can question everything, including science.
***
And this “everyone” actually puts his personal opinion before the scientific facts. This is a culturological implosion that I warned about long before the pandemic.
***
And the advantage of personal opinion over fact makes us – all, as a society! – hostages of, um, the cognitively provoked majority. Not to mention “hostages of fools.”
***
I have already said a hundred times that the current political class (not only in our country) must not anger those who are hesitant about vaccines. This, in my opinion, borders on a huge crime, although it is not described in our Penal Code.
***
Understand: the simple’s access to the media (social media) logically leads and will further lead to a general decline in intelligence.
***
Because the Simple One (he is already a major factor, and the media worships him) is not a subject / agent of his own destiny.
***
He, if you will, in a sense is like Degas – he likes ballerinas and point. And that this is the subject of heuristics and cognitive bias – I will not stop ringing this bell.
***
It’s like the difference between a drug and a poison – but few understand it.
***
But since we started with Insulate, we need someone to isolate Bulgaria in more ways than one, and our tragic results in non-vaccination and mortality from COVID-19 lead us there. No matter how hard the EU tries to get us into modernity (or at least in Century of The Fruitbat, after the genius Pratchett).
***
Finally, here’s something really clever: Bulgarian stupidity turned out to be a kind of autoimmune disease that affects our entire national organism.
