Fraga will request European Funds to rehabilitate the old San José de Calasanz school – Comarcas

Fraga City Council will request European Funds to rehabilitate the old San José de Calasanz school. Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan PRTR – Next Generation.

The tender has already been awarded for the drafting of the preliminary project for the remodeling of the old San José de Calasanz school building, with energy efficiency criteria, for educational uses. With this documentation and the pertinent reports, the City Council of Fraga will request the ‘Local Pirep’ subsidy to remodel the property, which has four floors and an assembly hall, with an area of ​​approximately 1,800 m2.

The building of the old San José de Calasanz school has been closed for many years without any type of use and currently cannot be used due to the deficiencies of the property. This rehabilitation could offer new school places in the municipality, the creation of a special education school, FP and FP-Dual projects and/or classrooms for the Official School of Languages.

Silvia Galindo, Councilor for Education, has indicated: “Improving education is one of our main objectives. We have been working on various projects for a long time and the European Funds present us with a great opportunity to continue advancing”.

On the other hand, the City Council has also contacted the Provincial Education Service and has requested the collaboration of the educational authority to jointly establish the rehabilitation program for the building and the support of the Government of Aragon so that the consistory can apply for this subsidy. .

Fraga City Council continues to improve the educational offer in the city

The new facilities of UNED-Fraga will be opened shortly; on the other hand, together with the business and education sector, work is being done to make new vocational training degrees available in the city and, as confirmed by the Minister of Economy, Planning and Employment of the Government of Aragon, Marta Gastón, at the XVII Meeting Business carried out last week in Fraga, it is expected to expand the offer of professional training in the city shortly.

The mayor of Fraga, Santiago Burgos, has expressed his interest in continuing to advance with these projects “Employment, education, the business sector and youth are lines that complement each other and in which we are working in a coordinated manner with synergies that feed each other”.

If the Fraga City Council finally receives the subsidy, 25% of the m2 to be rehabilitated must be completed before September 30, 2024 and the remaining 75% before March 31, 2026.
