Our animals review 2021. The most poignant animal rescues of the year.
The Union “Small wild animals in great need” from Graz applied in spring 2021 Tierschutz Austria (TSA) with the request to take in a fox pup. At the time, the association was setting up a new location and was therefore not yet able to look after all wild animal species again. TSA cooperates with the Styrian Animal Welfare Association on a professional and animal level. In the course of this collaboration, martens from Graz were also taken care of in the Vösendorf animal shelter.
Mr Fuchs Teufels Wild has an adoptive mother
The little fox was found orphaned in Graz and then raised by the TSA team. When it was found, he was estimated to have been eight weeks old. He still had blue eyes, which speaks for the tender age. He had already grown his first teeth. During the first few days at the animal shelter in Vösendorf, the little one was still very unhappy and cried for his mother, but afterwards he accepted his human adoptive mother – a carer from Tierschutz Austria – and drank his bottles dutifully. In the meantime, “Mr. Fox Devil’s Game”, as the little fox is called, also gets solid food consisting of meat and dog food. For its later release – if possible – it would be good if a conspecific moved in with TSA soon. As a result, “Mr. Fox Devil’s Wild” would not get too used to us humans and would also better retain his natural shyness.
