“The fans have been asking for it for a long time,” says Karthaus. “And we regularly fantasize about it with the regular actors. We still get together occasionally and we are getting more and more enthusiastic about the idea of a reunion film.”
The director has already written a draft for a possible film. Producer NL Film is also on board, says Karthaus. Director Johan Nijenhuis and screenwriter Wijo Koek, who were responsible for the other films in the series, are not involved in the project.
Karthaus thinks so Zoopseries and movies, which revolve around a group of cold-blooded rangers who help animals around the world, tap into the big issues that preoccupy today’s youth. “Australia is a country par excellence where you can see how great the consequences of climate change are.”
Serial Zoop was shown on television from 2004 to 2006 and consisted of more than three hundred episodes. The series concluded with three films: Zoop in Africa (2005), Zoop in India (2006) in Zoop in South America (2007), which attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors to the cinemas.
The leading roles were played by Karthaus herself, Monique van der Werff, Nicolette van Dam, Juliette van Ardenne, Vivienne van den Assem, Patrick Martens, Ewout Genemans and Erwan van Buuren.
