Fourth trade fair in Fröhlichgasse Graz: “Like your own neighborhood”

571 rental apartments, 1,500 underground parking spaces, nearly 9,000 square meters for offices, retail and restaurants: perhaps the fourth trade fair, which is growing into the air at the former Fröhlichgasse trade fair car park , the largest construction project currently under construction in Graz. And also the one that makes the biggest headlines. The developer, the Haring Group, recently sued the city because it doesn’t want to pay for infrastructure on public land. However, even before construction began, there was movement around an environmental impact assessment, which was necessary due to the scale of the project, the expected amount of traffic and the underground car park. In addition, District Councilor Jakomini argued that the city should stop the project and secure part of the land as a park. And: The property deal was overseen by the town hall consortium before the groundbreaking ceremony, among other things because the sale price of 12.5 million euros at the time seemed far too low.
