How it could go wrong on Tuesday evening is still unknown. The cause is currently being investigated. The club’s field was tested two years ago. No defects were found in the lighting columns.
Role referee
“Was it a technical problem, a human error or just a coincidence?” a spokesman for the St. Gallen police wondered. The police, in collaboration with the football association, are also considering whether the referee should have stopped the match.
