An hour later, a brawl broke out between dozens of supporters of the two clubs on Waterlooplein, a fifteen-minute walk from Dam Square. Three people were arrested here for public violence. A Besiktas supporter was bitten by a police dog.

Two people have been arrested for setting off fireworks at a metro station. Two supporters were also arrested for trying to enter the stadium without a ticket. In addition, supporters were arrested for insults and for carrying heavy fireworks.

Riots after the police strike

Police also arrested someone suspected of destroying a barrier at a police station in Amsterdam on September 15. That day there was vomiting in the town riot after a demonstration by Ajax fans against a police strike. As a result of the strike, the match between Ajax and FC Utrecht was postponed.

At least Ajax won yesterday 4-0 against Besiktas. This was the first game in the Europa League. The Amsterdam team has played against Besiktas six times in the past and they have won every game so far, reports the city’s channel AT5.
