The fourteen new infections are as many as yesterday. The day before, the Zeeland Safety Region raised the alarm because suddenly 27 infections were added. This brought the province just above the so-called signal value. The fourteen new infections from yesterday and today are well below that.
The signal value of the number of positively tested people per 100,000 inhabitants in Zeeland is seven. In the past 24 hours, that number came to 3.4. But if we only look at Middelburg with almost 49,000 inhabitants, it should actually be less than two infections per day, far below the seven from yesterday.
In addition to Middelburg, new infections have been detected in Goes (2), Sluis (1), Tholen (2), Veere (1) and Vlissingen (1).
Nationally, 2,718 new corona infections were reported to the RIVM up to this morning, 38 patients died of the virus. The number of deaths is the highest since mid-May. There are now a total of 122 Covid patients in the ICUs, six more than the day before.
