Fourteen injured in shooting in Austin, Texas

Fourteen people were injured, including two seriously, in a shooting night Friday to Saturday in Austin, Texas, police said, who are looking for two suspects. Several shots were reported at around 1:30 am local time in a busy street in the city center, according to interim police chief Joseph Chacon, who spoke at a press conference of crowds “such as we saw before the Covid ”.

The investigation is ongoing and it could be an argument that escalated. Two men are actively wanted, according to the official. Police called on anyone with information or who took a video on their cell phone to contact authorities. “The number of victims has increased to 14” people, against 13 recorded previously, said Joseph Chacon. Two of the injured people are in critical condition, he said.

“Almost all of these victims were innocent bystanders,” said Joseph Chacon, while stressing that the investigation was still in its early stages and that it was preliminary information. The police chief paid tribute to the speed with which officers responded, providing first aid and transporting some of the injured to hospital, which he said saved lives.
