(Belga) Since November 2016, the Trump Tower – a skyscraper on 5th Avenue in New York where the tycoon lived for a long time – was surrounded by police barriers. They are now just a memory, New York police confirmed Thursday.
The police had already somewhat reduced their presence around the tower that houses the billionaire’s holding company, after the inauguration of Joe Biden on January 20. Last Friday, “in partnership with the Secret Service, the decision was taken to remove the barriers around the Trump Tower,” a New York police spokesperson told AFP. The removal of barriers gives hope to luxury businesses – such as Tiffany’s, Gucci, or Abercrombie – a resumption of business in this neighborhood very close to Central Park. The pandemic and health restrictions, however, for the moment force the heart of Manhattan to idle, with many businesses closed and offices deserted. (Belga)
