Four years in prison for shooting former professional footballer Hoefdraad | Interior

Robin R. was sentenced to four years in prison for the shooting death of former professional footballer Jergé Hoefdraad. Hoefdraad was shot in the head last year during a party in a commercial building in Amsterdam.

According to the Amsterdam court, R. shot Hoefdraad, but he didn’t do it on purpose. The court speaks of reckless action.

35-year-old Hoefdraad was killed on Sunday 1 August at 6 am in a full party hall on Stekkenbergweg in the Zuidoost district. He died of his injuries a few days later. R. had already been arrested in Belgium at that time.

According to 36-year-old R., the weapon exploded accidentally. During an altercation, into which he was unexpectedly dragged, he said he grabbed the weapon to prevent him from falling to the ground by his belt. He would have kept the semi-automatic for someone else.

Several witnesses testified that Hoefdraad was trying to calm down an argument when he was hit on the head.

Hoefdraad has played more than 250 games in professional football, including more than 150 for Almere City FC. The striker also played for Telstar and SC Cambuur. He played eight games for the latter club in the Eredivisie.
