The 27-year-old striker played on loan for VfL last season and, according to the club, signed a contract until 2025 on Wednesday. The Champions League participant does not provide any information about the transfer fee. According to the media, VfL will pay around seven million euros for the former U21 national player. In the past season, the striker scored six goals for Wolfsburg in 27 competitive games. “Maximilian has proven the value for our team again and again and brings exactly the skills we need to be able to continue to be successful,” said VfL sports director Marcel Schäfer. Before joining the Russian first division club from Moscow, Philipp was already active for the Bundesliga clubs SC Freiburg (2014 to 2017) and Borussia Dortmund (2017 to 2019). © dpa-infocom, dpa: 210616-99-17682 / 2 – .
