It’s time to take stock for the RC Lens. The summer preparation ended this Saturday July 30, 2022 with the reception of West Ham at the Bollaert-Delelis stadium. The Sang et Or have won four of their six games and filled up with confidence before the return of Ligue 1 next Sunday. We take stock.
Four wins and two draws
The Lensois played their very first friendly match on July 2 at La Gaillette, behind closed doors, against Paris FC. The match ended in a draw, 0-0. On July 8, still at the Avion training center, Franck Haise’s players outclassed Valenciennes 3 goals to 0.
The Artésiens then took the road to Rodez for a one-week course in Aveyron where two oppositions were on the program. The first, facing Rodez on July 16, was won 1-0. The second, which took place on the same day, also ended in victory. Lens won 3-1 against Clermont.
This is the only goal that the Northerners will concede during their preparation. The coach and the leaders wanted to end the pre-season with two big pieces at Bollaert: Inter Milan and West Ham. On Saturday July 23, the RCL offered themselves Inter thanks to a goal from Openda in the very last moments of the match.
Yesterday, the Artésiens could not find the fault in the face of West Ham. Solid and rigorous defensively, the Londoners left very little space to the Lensois. Final score: 0-0. The balance sheet is simple, Racing did not loseconceded only one goal and scored 8. We can hardly dream of better!
“We are ready on a number of things: on the principles of the game, the placed defense is good, we created a lot of chances… I hope we will be a little more ready in a week. The objective is to remain demanding in order to progress further, ”said Franck Haise after the West Ham match.
“The objective is to remain demanding”
Lens will start their Ligue 1 championship with the Brest reception on Sunday August 7 at 15h. The club will therefore be able to rely on a solid defense but also on its recruits who have adapted well. Brice Samba, Loïs Apenda, Jimmy Cabot, Salis Abdul Samed, Lukasz Poreba… They all had playing time and were able to pick up points before the restart.
The only downside is the lack ofAdam Pantsinjured, who may not return until September.
