Four universities speak out on the arbitrary actions of the MP

Del Valle universities, Rafael LandivarMesoamericana and the Isthmus spoke in a statement about the political situation that the country is experiencing and that endangers the institutions derived from the actions that the Public Ministry has undertaken when opening the electoral boxes, a power that only belongs to the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE).

“It is up to all citizens to defend the constitutional order as a fundamental element to achieve the comprehensive development of our country. “We urge State agencies, judicial and constitutional authorities, as well as different sectors and national and international organizations to collaborate in the protection and preservation of the constitutional order and the democratic system of our country.”they point out in the statement.

Affront against the electoral process

From this account, the aforementioned universities expressed their interest that the ongoing legal and criminal actions such as the electoral process culminate within a framework of total legality, regulated by the Electoral and Political Parties Law, which is of constitutional rank.

“As universities, it is our responsibility to contribute to the study and solution of national problems. In that sense, we are called to contribute to the comprehensive development of the country, safeguarding the republican system, the rule of law and the preservation of democracy.”the universities noted.

The Public Ministry began an affront against the electoral process in order to try to discredit it, by taking actions that violated the custody of the votes cast by citizens. Accordingly, several actions have been presented, of which the Constitutional Court has accepted, but due to jurisdiction it has transferred them to other jurisdictional bodies.
