Truck drives on tow truck
For reasons that are still unclear, a 54-year-old drove his semi-trailer truck into a breakdown service truck that was preparing to tow a broken semi-trailer truck. As a result of the collision, a fire immediately broke out. The two articulated lorries and the two trucks of the towing company burned out completely.
23 tons of plastic granules in one of the articulated trucks made the extinguishing work extremely difficult and caused a cloud of black smoke that could be seen from a distance of 15 kilometers.
An employee of the towing service was seriously injured in the accident – he was between two vehicles at the time of the accident. His colleague and the person who caused the accident also came to a hospital with minor injuries.
long lockdown
The freeway was completely closed in both directions for around three hours. In the evening, the direction of travel to Frankfurt was reopened.
The salvage of the burned-out truck was completed during the night. The severely damaged roadway is currently being repaired so that the motorway can be reopened on Thursday morning.
