Owners of Android smartphones have a separate slot for a memory card in their devices. Many people use it if the smartphone’s own memory is not enough to store all the files. With this expansion, you can increase the amount of memory up to 1 TB (depending on the model). But there are several reasons why it is better not to use a memory card at all.
Why you need to stop using a memory card on your smartphone
A memory card can fail at any time, because it is weakly protected from software errors. Often there were situations when the card failed for no apparent reason, and thousands of photos and videos simply disappeared. Restoring your data will cost you a fortune.
Not all mobile applications can work with a memory card. The fact is that the speed of the internal memory of a smartphone is higher than the speed of working with a flash card. Not all applications can be installed on the card – the most basic ones require installation on the smartphone’s drive.
The information on the memory card may be compromised or destroyed by viruses. For example, you connect the card to a card reader on a PC that has viruses. Malware can not only copy your files, but also encrypt your drive so that you cannot use it.
The memory card has a resource, measured by the number of rewriting cycles. Files on such a drive are stored in the form of electric charges inside the microcircuit blocks. As the cell wears out, the microcircuits no longer hold charges, which leads to slow operation and failures. If you are constantly writing and deleting something from the SD drive, then there will come a point when the card may fail.
