1. With how many people can I celebrate New Year’s Eve?
There is no limit to this in the private sphere. Still, the government asks not to party in large groups. Anyone who visits or receives guests is strongly advised to take a self-test. This way you can be sure that you do not have to spend the first weeks of 2022 in quarantine.
In a catering business you can only celebrate with 6 people at the same table. Also take into account that you must be able to present a Corona Safe Ticket upon arrival. The mouth mask is only allowed at the table. Starting the new year in a disco is not possible: they are closed until the end of January.
2. Can I count down to the new year this year?
That will not work in a catering business, they have to close at 11 p.m. So an hour before the countdown. Those who celebrate in private will not be stopped from counting down to the new year. Unlike last year, there is no curfew, so you can safely go out on the street after midnight.
3. Will there be fireworks?
There is no general ban on fireworks. The decision whether or not to allow fireworks on New Year’s Eve is taken by the municipality. Some municipalities do not have a ban at all, in others you have to submit an application to light fireworks and in others there is a strict ban. If you plan to fire a few arrows, it is best to inquire with the municipality.
Here and there municipalities will organize the fireworks themselves. On the coast, the city council of De Panne, Middelkerke and Koksijde will provide their residents with a fireworks spectacle.
4. Can I celebrate abroad?
You can safely spend the night of New Year’s Eve at a holiday destination. In that case, take into account the corona measures and travel rules of the destination country. Many countries require the CST, an entry form or sometimes a negative test before you can enter the country.
