The four infections were discovered after one of the teachers diagnosed corona. After source and contact research it became clear that three other teachers at the school were also infected, says Hoebe.
Everyone tested
Yesterday, a total of fourteen staff members of the primary school in the municipality of Kerkrade were tested. The other staff will follow today and tomorrow. In addition to a test, they also have to complete a questionnaire. “Then we determine what we do on Monday,” said Hoebe.

All parents of the primary school children have been informed. They must be alert to complaints from the children or themselves. Moreover, research into hygiene at the school showed that the school had taken sufficient precautions.
The mayor of the municipality of Kerkrade, Petra Dassen-Housen, says the situation is ‘annoying’. “We can imagine that children and parents have many questions and uncertainties,” she writes a statement. “We wish the teachers a speedy recovery and ask everyone to stay alert.”
No surprise
Hoebe is not surprised that this could have happened. “You will occasionally see these kinds of infections in the coming months. Now it is a school, perhaps soon a company.”
