The Peruvian Table Tennis Sports Federation (FDPTM) defined the national players who will represent the country in the ITTF Americas Qualification Event 2024, a regional Olympic qualifying event for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, which will be at the Sports Center 3 of La Videna on 14 to May 18.
The team is made up of Felipe Duffoó, who is part of the Athlete Support Program (PAD) of the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD), as well as Isabel Duffoó, Rodrigo Hidalgo and Eliana González del Riego, who will seek her third Olympic participation.
At 54 years old, Eliana González competed in Barcelona ’92 and Atlanta ’96, so she hopes to once again have a presence at the world’s biggest event.
This important event organized by the FDPTM will feature the participation of the continent’s greatest exponents, who will fight to win one of the four Olympic quotas by gender that the tournament will offer.
So far the presence of two Olympic tennis players has been confirmed, such as Andy Pereira (Cuba), Horacio Cifuentes (Argentina), Kanak Jha (United States), Paulina Vega (Chile), Yadira Silva (Mexico), Mo Zhang ( Canada), among others.
It is worth noting that Marisol Espineira, current president of the FDPTM, is the last national representative in the Olympic Games (Athens 2004).
