During the fire on the railway car in Brno, four people were burned at night tonight. This was stated by firefighter spokesman Jaroslav Mikoška. According to him, the wagon full of waste probably served as a dormitory for the homeless. Firefighters describe the fire as one of the most tragic in South Moravia in the last five years.
According to police spokesman Pavel Šváb, the police will search the site together with the fire brigade to find out the causes of the fire.
Firefighters received information about a fire near Široká Street around 00:30. “We had to run a hose line about 200 meters long to get to the fire. The flames hit an old decommissioned railway car outside the track, which apparently served as a dormitory for the homeless,” said Mikoška.
Firefighters in respiratory technology brought the flames under control by means of three water jets shortly after one hour. An hour later, they completely destroyed the fire.
“The wagon full of waste no longer served as a means of transport, and therefore the material damage is zero. However, we found four human bodies in the fire,” said Mikoška.
