Three trucks fell off the bridge and a passenger car was crushed by a collapsed single post bridge.

In China, in the central province of Hubei, part of the ramp bridge in the city of Ezhou collapsed. Four people died and eight more were injured, reports Xinhua Sunday, December 19th.

The incident occurred the day before, when part of a ramp bridge located above the expressway collapsed. As a result, three trucks fell off the bridge, and a passenger car was crushed by a collapsed single-post bridge.

An unknown number of people were working on the bridge at the time of the accident. The results of the preliminary investigation showed that the overloaded truck weighing 198 tons, when it fell, broke into two parts, dragging two other vehicles along with it.

Rescue teams, firefighters and traffic police worked on site.

The destroyed ramp bridge connects the Shanghai-Chongqing Expressway and the Daqing-Guangzhou Expressway. The bridge was commissioned on September 28, 2010, and is 731.08 meters long and 13 meters wide.

Previously an ancient bridge collapsed in Rome due to fire – several parts of the structure collapsed into the Tiber River. As a result of the accident, many houses were left without electricity, water and gas.
