Four people died in Nunukan, Kaltara because of DHF

Nunukan (ANTARA) – The number of patients with dengue fever (DHF) in Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan, throughout 2020 reached 25 people, four of whom died.

“Two sub-districts that experienced a significant increase in DHF attacks in 2020 were Seimenggaris and South Nunukan Subdistricts,” said the Head of the Disease Prevention and Prevention (P2P) Office of Nunukan Health, Irma Yanti in Nunukan, Monday

In 2019, the District of Seimenggaris did not find DHF cases while in 2020 there were seven cases. South Nunukan Subdistrict in 2019 were two cases and 2020 there were four cases and two of them died.

He mentioned that in 2019 there were 43 dengue disease sufferers in his area with the distribution in six sub-districts namely Nunukan sub-district 20 cases, Sebuku and Lumbis nine cases each, South Nunukan and West Sebatik each two people and Sebatik sub-district (1 person).

In 2020, DHF sufferers in Nunukan Regency temporarily came from five districts namely Nunukan (12 cases), Seimenggaris (7), South Nunukan (4), Middle Sebatik and Sebatik each one case.

In addition to the two sub-districts that increased significantly, there were also two sub-districts that dropped dramatically, namely Sebuku and Lumbis Districts. In these two districts in 2019 there were nine cases, while in 2020 there were no similar cases.

Regarding patients who died in 2020 there were four people each in South Nunukan District two people and Seimenggaris also two people. In South Nunukan District, one of them is a health worker (health worker) at the Sedadap Public Health Center, said Irma Yanti.

He revealed, the transmission of DHF in his area was caused by the lack of awareness of the community in maintaining the cleanliness of the environment in which he lived and was less vigilant in maintaining clean water reservoirs.

In fact, he said, each puskesmas in the district had been intensely educating and socializing the community so that it would always maintain cleanliness and close the water reservoirs.

Then, action is taken on the affected area by smoking and distributing abate powder.
