Tegucigalpa, Honduras.- The Public Ministry (MP) presented this Monday -October 14- a tax requirement against an alleged criminal network that hacked accounts of WhatsApp to carry out massive scams. Among the accused are Brayan Estif Meléndez Mendoza, José Arnulfo Bueso, Luis Miguel Savillón Lara and Manuel de Jesús Albertowho will face charges for crimes such as criminal association, unauthorized access to computer systems, identity theft, fraud and money laundering.

The investigation, led by the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Intellectual Property and Computer Security (FEPROSSI) and the Technical Criminal Investigation Agency (ATIC), revealed that the accused used techniques of phishing to take control of WhatsApp accounts.
