Four out of 10 tourists plan to go to coastal areas next year

Mexico City. Four out of 10 potential travel buyers are thinking of domestic destinations and particularly coastal areas to visit in the next 12 months, according to the Pulso Viajes report.

This is a survey-based study that delves into key learnings from the tourism sector through online consumer behavior, as well as purchasing expectations for the 2024 edition of the HOT TRAVEL campaign.

The analysis shows that 90 percent of people interviewed are considering making a travel-related purchase online, whether it is a short or long-term trip.

Among the most interesting national destinations are Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Merida, Oaxaca, Mazatlan, Acapulco, Veracruz, Mexico City, Monterrey and Guadalajara.

In addition, the study shows that 15 out of every 100 potential travel buyers are thinking about international destinations, mainly in the United States, Spain, Italy, Canada, South America and some countries in the Middle East and the Asian region.

The report shows that six out of 10 potential buyers could purchase their tickets, accommodation reservations, and tourist packages online to complement their all-inclusive travel plans.

Wearable fashion or travel accessories, car rentals and insurance are of interest to potential online shoppers, as are telecommunications services.

Potential travel buyers, in turn, are interested in using their credit card and finding discounts of between 41 and 70 percent.

Interest-free months are key to encouraging consumers, so much so that 85% of people are interested in using bank cards, although debit cards are taking a backseat.
