Four new participants out of The Voice

For the second Friday in a row, it was up to the viewers to decide which participants were allowed to continue in The Voice.

Mentors Tom “Matoma” Stræte Lagergren (29), Espen Lind (49), Ina Wroldsen (36) and Yosef Wolde-Mariam (43) still had nothing they could say to save the participants on their teams.

Also this time, the group of eight was to be halved to four, with two participants from each team performing their own song, but only the one with the most votes went on in the competition.

When the viewers’ votes were finally counted, it became clear that Byron Williams (60), Charlotte Sofie Eliassen (30), Maria Marzano (20) and James Fox (26) had to leave the competition.

Thus, Sverre Eide (27), Cynthia Verazie (18), Sondre Høiby Bjelland (27) and Sofie Fjellvang (20) advance in the competition, in addition to Erlend Gunstveit (25), Natan Dagur (21), Maria Petra Brandal (20) and Amalie Haugen Øvstedal (23) who took the first four places in the first live broadcast.

Next Friday, all eight participants will fight against each other, where the six with the most votes from the audience go on to the fourth live broadcast.

Such was the evening

The oldest participant in the competition, Byron Williams (60) from Miami and Fredrikstad, opened the show with the classic “My First my Last, my Everything” by Barry White.

Williams’ mentor, Yosef Wolde-Mariam (43), was full of praise for the 60-year-old after the performance.

– Your voice is a representation of who you are as a human being. Your voice is the core of soul music, I’m getting hot, praised Wolde-Mariam.

– No matter what you do, it’s you, I love Byron, exclaimed Ina Wroldsen (36).

Sondre Høiby Bjelland (27) from Sandnes sang “Crying in the Rain” by a-ha, and garnered many praises from the mentors.

– It’s so nice when everything fits in with what we’ve been working on. Tonight you sang to Synna. It was a couple of moments I got completely stunned. You were completely level and you were exactly where you were supposed to, boasted Bjelland’s mentor, Tom «Matoma» Stræte Lagergren (29).

Bjelland was originally on mentor Espen Lind’s (49) team, but was wrecked earlier in the competition and then transferred to Team Matoma. On Friday night, he reaped praise from his former mentor.

– I think you just get better and better, get safer and safer. I think it was a great job, great performance, Lind said.

Pregnant Charlotte Sofie Eliassen (30) from Tønsberg performed the song “The Story” by Brandy Carlile, which means a lot to her.

Mentor Espen Lind could not hide his excitement.

– Aiaiai, if anyone is wondering how to do it then it’s like that. This was great. You relax because you know you are landing on your feet. This is a real performance, mentor Espen Lind beamed after the performance.

– I have always liked you, I have always thought there is more there, but tonight I almost started to laugh, because it was so liberating. The text, you look like a goddess, “the story, the baby, so I loved it”! Welcome, that is, “my God”, shouted Ina Wroldsen.

Maria Marzano (20) fra Storsand had chosen the song “Life on Mars” by David Bowie. Mentor Ina Wroldsen was very engaged during the performance.

– You were a real teacher now, that is, exclaimed host Øyvind Mund.

– Yes, we have worked with a bit like that techniques, I’m sorry, Maria if I was very, yes. But what I did not regret was how wonderful you were tonight. I think you have something special, you know. Girl! Maria was a person who does not sing loudly, and then you just belt out “Life on Mars”. Applause guys, Wroldsen said and clapped.

Mentor Yosef Wolde-Mariam also had to praise Marzano.

– The way you get in and how I hear the smallest details, I hear your soul. What I liked extra good today is that I feel that you were not completely in your own bubble, you warm up, you gave us more today and for me it was like “okay, okay okay”, Wolde-Mariam exclaimed.

The youngest participant of the evening, Cynthia Verazie (18) from Cyprus and Drammen, sang “To Love You More” by her favorite artist, Celine Dion.

– I remember when I was 8 years old and fell in love with this song, Cynthia said in the introduction before the performance.

Afterwards, mentor Espen Lind struggled to find words.

– Yes, it is difficult to follow up. There are bullets and gunpowder. You have the biggest voice of all in The Voice, it’s almost indisputable. There is nothing to pick at. 10 out of 10, he praised.

Mentor Matoma even garnered standing ovations, and the mentor thought the superstar would be proud of the 18-year-old if she heard the performance.

– I have been to a couple of concerts with her in Vegas, she would have been proud here today. You are completely raw!

James Fox (26) from Ireland and Kristiansand has usually performed rock songs in the competition, but tonight he had chosen the song “I Don’t Want To Miss a Thing” by Aerosmith for a very special reason.

Fox has had a girlfriend since last time, and sang with all his heart to his girlfriend. Mentor Matoma was very proud afterwards.

– Give it to me one more time! Were you nervous? You delivered, fy father I’m so proud of you, man. You have come a long way. You can see in the whole man that he sings to his girlfriend, I’m so proud of you, Matoma praised afterwards.

Fox admitted that he thought of his girlfriend while singing.

“I had her in my head the whole song,” he said.

Sørlandsjenta Sofie Fjellvang (20) sang “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart” by M. Ronson and M. Cyrus.

Mentor Yosef Wolde-Mariam was very impressed.

– Yes, you glow, you look fantastic, and you have also become such a person, I notice that I have great musical confidence, I’m not as nervous, I know she’s fucking fantastic, he boasted.

– What I have to say is that you sang from your soul, I was hypnotized, it was absolutely magical. Both your aura, your charisma, and it was absolutely fantastic, Matoma boasted afterwards.

Sunnmøringen Sverre Eide (27) performed “Run” by Snow Patrol. In the past, he has often performed with guitar, but this time he showed that he also mastered the piano.

Mentor Ina Wroldsen could not stop smiling afterwards, and the 27-year-old also received standing ovations from Matoma and Lind.

– What we have seen live is one of the rawest we have seen, said a tearful Matoma.

Mentor Wroldsen is convinced that Eide has something to do in the industry.

– So Sverre, I know how hard you have worked, how far you have come. I think you are so brave, you have what it takes to fight your way through this industry. It was amazing, you nailed it! Nailed it, she shouted.
