Four less COVID-19-related hospitalizations in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean | Coronavirus

According to data released Friday by the Ministry of Health and Human Services, there are 61 people hospitalized at the moment in the five dedicated hospitals in the region. This is a drop of four from the previous day.

The peak was reached on January 22 with 96 hospitalizations. Six people are in intensive care.

This also includes people who have recovered from COVID-19 but are still hospitalized. According to provincial statistics, 47% of new hospitalizations recorded on Thursday had COVID-19 as the main diagnosis.

On the vaccination side, a rebound was observed Thursday in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean with 1038 doses administered, including 814 booster doses. A certain slowdown had been observed recently.

The other data from the daily report are however not available due to a computer failure on the website of the National Institute of Public Health of Quebec.

On Thursday, the Deputy Director General for Social Services and Rehabilitation of the Integrated university health and social services center du Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, Marc Thibeault, revealed that it was estimated that between 50,000 and 60,000 Saguenéens and Jeannois contracted COVID-19 during the current fifth wave of the pandemic.
