The four were taken to hospital with injuries to their hands and heads. The police are investigating the case and are looking for six to ten people from a left-wing group. Earlier, far-right activists at Glauchau station had thrown rocks at a train carrying left-wing protesters, police said.

Police arrested 37 right-wing extremists. Two counter-protesters were said to have suffered minor injuries, a third was in worse condition. One of the attackers, according to the police, gave a Nazi salute, another was wearing a belt with a swastika.

There were also riots at the station in Chemnitz on Sunday. There, fifty far-right demonstrators were taken off a train.
