The West-Hérault territory is getting organized in view of a possible reflux of Covid patients, from this Wednesday, October 14, 2020. Four health establishments in Biterrois are once again launching a joint white plan : the Béziers hospital center, the Champeau clinic (Béziers), the Saint-Privat clinic (Boujan-sur-Libron) and that of Jean-Causse (Colombiers).
Avoid deprogramming operations
Concretely, the sanitary protocol is similar to that put in place during confinement. The establishments are preparing services adapted to the epidemic, capable of opening beds quickly in intensive care. Separate circuits are set up for Covid and non-Covid patients.
“The goal is to avoid deprogramming as we had to do during confinement“, explains Carole Gleyzes, deputy director of the Béziers Hospital Center. In the event of a massive arrival of coronavirus patients, a deprogramming of surgical operations will be done gradually and only in certain departments.
“Today, the hospital is saturated with non-Covid patients, those who saw their operation deprogrammed during the lockdown.” – Carole Gleyzes, deputy director of the Béziers hospital center.
The four establishments will work collectively: “Each day, we will define the number of beds available, explains Carole Gleyzes. If one of the structures has no more room, it can redirect the patient to a partner structure.“
Nowadays, the hospital’s intensive care unit is full. Out of twelve beds, only four welcome patients affected by the coronavirus.
