The Clark County Coroner’s Office identified two of the three victims as associate professor Cha Jan “Jerry” Chang, 64, of Henderson, Nevada, and 39, of Las Vegas. Assistant Professor Patricia Navarro Velez.

According to comprehensive media reports, Chang is an associate professor in the Department of Management, Entrepreneurship and Technology at the school of business and has been teaching at UNLV since 2001.

According to the school’s website, Velez is an assistant professor of accounting, holds a PhD in accounting, and is currently engaged in research on network security disclosures and data analysis.

According to the coroner, Chang’s cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head. Velez’s cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds.

The third person who died has been identified, but his name has not yet been released.

The coroner’s office is working to identify the deceased’s legal next of kin. The fourth seriously injured person, a 38-year-old man, is still receiving treatment in the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

“On behalf of our office, we would like to express our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and those affected by this tragic event,” the coroner’s office said in a statement.

According to reports, the gunman’s name was Tony Polito, a long-time business professor who had failed to apply for a job at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV).

Sheriff Kevin McMahill said investigators were still working to determine the shooter’s motive, but it did not appear he was targeting students. McMahill said he also brought a list of people he was looking for when he entered campus.
