In 1979, Bienvenido Guiral Vidosa, José Luis Ibáñez Del Amo and Enrique Barcelona decided to join forces and founded a small business in a local on Zaragoza’s Leopoldo Romeo street., in which at the beginning there was little more than a few small boards with tiles. Four decades later San Jose tiles has grown to consolidate itself as a company specializing in sales and advice to professionals in the sector –promoters, contractors, architects, decorators, interior designers, reformers… -, distributing to major brands on an exclusive or semi-exclusive basis.
As the year ends, the company takes stock of a 2021 that has been complicated due to the coronavirus pandemic, like 2020, about which the management had high expectations, but that from March became an absolute unknown, with a total stoppage of almost two months that was very difficult to overcome, although later the situation improved and the assessment of the year was satisfactory.
Thus, 2021 they faced it with a double objective. On the one hand, match the turnover figures of 2019 and, on the other, implement a new commercial policy, channeling all its sales through professionals. Some challenges that they have more than achieved, which is reflected in their figures, since they have not only reached those of two years ago, but will probably exceed them by 4% or 5%.
And, in the implementation of the new commercial policy, the entity is remarkably satisfied with the reception by all its clients, both professionals and individuals. Its 1000 m2 ‘showroom’ is open to the general public by appointment, but the sale is always channeled through a construction professional. All this in order to achieve an optimal quality circle.
The human team
“The human team that we have, with highly trained and customer-oriented professionals in all areas, has been key to achieving the objectives. The work carried out from all departments: administrative, logistics, works and commercial is fantastic. how proud we are. And, of course, of our clients, who day by day with the trust they place in us to accompany them in their projects make it easier to reach them “, explains Joaquín Álvarez, commercial director of Azulejos San José.
Regarding the most outstanding projects of 2021, Álvarez underlines the satisfaction they feel for all of them, and highlights those that he considers most notable for elements such as their repercussion or their contribution to the community. Examples of this are the rehabilitation of the new Hábitat Sella hotel complex (in Villanueva de Gallego), the works in several Aragonese public schools, the new San Martín de Porres de Atades school, the numerous new-build housing initiatives with some of the best developers in Zaragoza and an infinity of public and private interior design projects with prominent architects and interior decorators .
Another of the milestones that makes him feel most proud is the endorsement of his suppliers, all of them world-class companies that trust them to distribute their products. Some exclusively for their area of operation, such as Tau, Grupo Florim –with all their brands–, Laufen, Villeroy & Boch, and others in semi-exclusivity, such as Inalco, Living Ceramics, Marazzi, Grespania, Vives, Colorker, Ceracasa, Wow and many others who share their work with them every day.
