Residents of Aglonas Street in Ķengarag are alarmed to report that recently, more and more often, police squads and employees of the funeral home are standing at the door of the social house “Daugava”. On both Tuesday and Wednesday, a dead person is carried out of the building, which makes the locals think that something bad is happening on the institution’s premises.
Addressed residents of the social house do not consider what is happening a deviation from the norm. That is to say, taking into account the number of people housed in the building, the regular deaths should come as no surprise.
“Maybe he was old. Maybe he drank too much, maybe he didn’t drink enough. Maybe the wife ran away to someone else. I too will be 75. I’m not dead yet. I’m not an immortal either,” says the resident of the social house “Daugava”.
Representative of the Riga municipality Ivo Kiršblats confirms that the last month has indeed been quite nervous for the residents of the Latgale district, but nothing out of the ordinary has happened. In other words, the cold dramatically worsens people’s health, as in other years.
In addition to viruses and other diseases, building occupants also tend to become violent towards each other. Sometimes guests of customers become aggressors.
