A major explosion at the site of a water treatment plant near Bristol, in the south west of England, killed four and injured one. According to British media, it was the second incident at the Avonmouth water treatment plant in two weeks.

Images from BBC public television showed a silo-like construction with a destroyed roof. Witnesses reported a loud bang. Television images also showed a large deployment of emergency services, including a helicopter.
According to the initial observations of the police, a tank of chemicals would have flew into the air. The morning explosion is not being treated as an incident of a terrorist nature, Mark Runacres of the local police said at a news conference broadcast on British television.
