In the Belgian city of Ghent, four occupants of a car were killed last night after their car ran into water. That happened on the Huidevetterskaai on the Leie in the center. The cause of the accident is not yet clear. It is also not known whether the car was speeding. The circumstances are being investigated.
The car, with French number plates, drove off the quay through a steel railing into the water. The fire brigade deployed divers, but help came too late for the occupants.
The identity of the occupants is not yet known, Flemish media write. It is clear that it concerns three men and a woman.
