Four-day nationwide regional transport strike will not take place for now | Economy

A four-day nationwide strike in regional transport has been lifted for the time being. The FNV union will first continue to talk to employers in regional transport about its requirements for a new collective labor agreement.

Among other things, FNV wants the wages of regional transport employees to rise in line with high inflation. To enforce this in a new collective bargaining agreement, the union has given an ultimatum to employers. If the employers do not agree to the demands by Sunday, the workers will go on strike.

A spokesman for the FNV points out that strike plans have been blocked, but are not yet out of the question. “If the employers’ proposals are again insufficient, we will strike for four days in January instead of December,” he says.

About thirteen thousand people are covered by the regional collective contract for transport. These include train drivers, train drivers and bus drivers from companies such as Qbuzz, Arriva and Keolis.

According to FNV, a previously announced strike by regional train employees in the north of the Netherlands will continue. This happens because the collective labor agreement has been broken there.

Next Thursday, Arriva staff go on strike on the regional railway in Friesland. On Friday, the company’s employees will follow their colleagues in the southeast of Drenthe on the Groningen regional track and on Monday.
